Using a simple conversion kit, the MTAR-21 can be reloaded in 9mm, making it a submachine gun with a capacity of 20, 25 and 32 rounds. It can also be fitted with a silencer, which is part of the 9mm kit. A grenade launcher specially designed for its size is also available, which requires a truly special design. Although originally intended for special forces, the Israeli Army announced in November 2009 the equipping of all its infantry units with the Micro Tavor as a standard issue weapon. This is due to the type of clashes in which the IDF has been involved in recent decades, mostly in urban areas.
