A robotic camera snake that mimics the actions of the real reptile has been developed by the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology for use in battlefield surveillance
When it comes to battlefield surveillance, why walk when you can glide past your unseen enemy? Animals, reptiles and insects have been taken on new roles on the battlefield – and all without a trainer in sight. Now, with a little help from Israeli researchers at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, a robotic surveillance camera disguised as a snake can be remotely controlled by soldiers to search for enemy insurgents hiding in tight spaces where airborne drones are not so useful.
