“Terrorism is a global threat (…) Israel stands shoulder to shoulder with the Government and people of Kenya in these difficult times. We in Israel know the pain of terrorism and we will do all we can to support the people of Kenya”. While the President of Israel, Shimon Peres, made public this message of condolences to his Kenyan counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta, several members of Israel’s elite anti-terrorist unit were already in the vicinity of the Westgate shopping mall.
