Security Lessons from the Holy Land: Guardian human protection course
Last July took place in Almazán (Soria) what is, according to many professionals in the sector, the best and most complete course of protection of people taught in Spain. The course was organized by the company Guardian Spain, known in the security world for the training of professionals, security consulting and the import of Israeli products to Spain. The course was given by highly qualified Israeli instructors and experts in all types of anti-terrorist techniques. During the five days of the course, the students learned the Israeli modus operandi in terms of protection of persons, tracking and counter-surveillance. The profile of those attending the course was quite diverse. It was attended by both private security professionals (security guards and private escorts) and members of the public security. The course offers a global vision of the activities to be carried out by a security professional during his working life in an eminently practical way. The time dedicated to theory throughout the course is approximately 10%, since experience in a country like Israel has shown that theory in a real street situation does not work.
Throughout the course the students receive training in various aspects of personal safety: from the method of self-defense used by the Israeli Army known as Krav MagaThe training includes: hand-to-hand combat, techniques for confrontation with knives and firearms, Israeli shooting techniques, VIP shooting techniques, tactical training in urban areas, evacuation and rescue techniques, protection techniques, operational and evasive driving, real protection drills, theoretical classes on face recognition and real attacks, surprise scenarios and tracking techniques for both pedestrians and vehicles. Professionals in the security world have heard a lot about Israel, its methods, techniques and its effectiveness in real situations, but unfortunately security training from Israel is not very widespread in Spain. Guardian Spain offers us with its courses the possibility of accessing that knowledge that we all admire and aspire to know.
